Ghost ChatGPT Integration
Connecting Ghost to ChatGPT means giving an assistant a narrow, revocable way into your own site, so that asking for a change in plain language actually changes something. This page explains how that connection is made for Ghost specifically, and where it stops.
How Ghost connects to ChatGPT
Ghost's Admin API, at /ghost/api/admin. It is part of Ghost itself, so nothing is installed on your publication.
A custom integration key. The key is never sent: it is decoded and used to sign a fresh token that is valid for five minutes, so an intercepted request cannot be replayed later.
What is particular to Ghost
Ghost has no search by title in its Admin API, so finding a post to change is done by listing rather than by querying.
What the platform does not allow
Editing a post requires sending the timestamp it was last changed, so a post edited elsewhere in the meantime is refused rather than overwritten. Ghost replaces its redirect list as a whole file, so redirects are deliberately not managed.
Which assistants this works with
Any assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol. That includes ChatGPT and Claude today. You connect your own account — there is no separate subscription to an AI provider through us, and your conversations stay with whichever assistant you already pay for.
Everything above describes what Ghost’s interface offers. None of it is marked verified yet, which in this product means exercised against a live installation with the date recorded.
Common questions
Do I need an OpenAI API key?
No. You connect the ChatGPT account you already have. Ghost AI Agent is the bridge between that account and your Ghost site; it is not an OpenAI reseller and does not need a key from you.
Can ChatGPT publish to my Ghost site without asking?
No. Work is created unpublished wherever the platform allows it, and publishing is a deliberate, separate step. Never changing a live site without authorisation is a rule the product is built around rather than a setting.
What happens if I revoke access?
The connection stops working immediately. The credential lives on your Ghost installation and is yours to withdraw at any time, without touching anything else on the site.
